Juventus confirm that Sarri has pneumonia

Juventus have issued a statement confirming that coach Maurizio Sarri has been diagnosed with pneumonia after having contracted the flu.

The strategist fell ill last week and sought medical treatment on several occasions, including the traditional match against the youth team at Villar Perosa.

He then did not make the trip to Triestina for a 1-0 win on Saturday night.

"Maurizio Sarri, after spending the weekend away, was at JTC Continassa today where he coordinated the work of his staff," the Juventus statement said.

"Unfortunately, he can't get training on the ground because of his flu, which struck him last week."

"In the late afternoon, he underwent further tests that confirmed he had pneumonia, for which specific therapy was prescribed."

"The coach has authorized the club to communicate his health."
