Atletico Madrid just had to accept a defeat of 2 - 0 against Real Sociedad in the fourth round of La Liga and ended the series of 9 consecutive defeats in all competitions.  It was a disappointing match for the Wanda Metropolitano when most of the best players came in, but Joao Felix, Diego Costa or Saul were unable to break through the opponent's defense.  But putting aside this defeat, Atletico Madrid need to focus on their major Champions League challenge against tough opponent Juventus.

Last season, it was Juventus who ended Atletico Madrid's journey in the eighth round.  With the intention of overthrowing Barcelona's dominance in Laliga and going deep in the Champions League arena, Atletico Madrid spent a lot of money in the summer to bring back a lot of quality rookies, of which the remarkable  especially striker Joao Felix from Benfica.  However, the current situation of Atletico makes people worried.  Against predestined opponents like Juventus, playing under the support of home fans is a strong fulcrum for the Wanda Metropolitano team to have more confidence.  Vicente Calderón is a difficult place to go for any opponent when Atletico has been unbeaten for the past 10 times, including up to 9 victories.

On the other side, Juventus had a great revolution when Sarri was coached to replace Allegri, and recruited some very interesting rookies like Matthijs de Ligt or Ramsey.  Besides, Ronaldo is still the most important player with a sublime form.  However, their performance was not commensurate with the dream team.  In Serie A, after 2 hard victories, the old lady was drawn by Fiorentina in the last round.  Overall, Juventus has 4 wins, 1 draw and only lost 1 of the last 6 appearances.
