Official: El Clasico postponed between Barcelona and Real Madrid

The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has confirmed the postponement of the major Spanish derby between Barcelona and Real Madrid known as El Clasico.

Barcelona and Real Madrid were scheduled to face each other at Camp Nou on Saturday 26 October.

This match was scheduled to take place within the tenth week of La Liga, but will not take place.

The RFEF has confirmed that El Clasico has also been formally postponed.

Both teams, Barcelona and Real Madrid must agree on a new date by 21 October and in the event of an agreement not being reached, the Competition Committee will set the date.

El Clasico's delay comes as a result of numerous protests in Catalonia, the cause of several political arrests.

Spanish football executives have reported that there is insufficient security for this match and it has been decided to postpone it.
