Boxing: Haney vs Santiago & Saunders vs Coceres

On Saturday, WBC lightweight world champion Devin Haney joins Alfredo Santiago in Los Angeles .

The WBC Convention in Cancun, which ended last week, named Devin Haney a full-fledged lightweight WBC lightweight world champion after beating Zaur Abdullaev in September's interim title.  Haney (23-0, 15 KOs), who is considered a great talent and climbs into the ring for Eddie Hearn's Matchroom Boxing, dropped Abdullaev out of the ring in just four rounds.

Next Saturday, the 9th of November, the only 20-year-old will be in the boxing ring again.  For a long time no opponent could be found and obligated, but as Matchroom Boxing has now announced in a press release, the Puerto Rican Alfredo Santiago Alvarez (12-0, 4 KOs) is the upcoming challenger.  At the Staples Center in LA, "The Dream" Haney is now for the first time to defend the WBC lightweight world title.

"I am glad that we have completed this deal," said Haney.  "I'm not just a WBC world champion holding someone else's belt.  I am the only champion and will defend the lightweight title on 9th November.  I trained hard and am very focused.  This will be the perfect present for me on my 21st birthday. "

"All the fans in the STAPLES Center and the millions watching the fight on DAZN will witness another outstanding achievement.  I will show the world again that I am the best in my division.  Alfredo Santiago is my next opponent.  He is unbeaten, he is hungry and he comes to win.  I take every fight very seriously and this fight is no different.  Turn on next Saturday and you'll see the hype is real, "Haney continues.

In the main fight of the evening, the two Youtube stars KSI and Logan Paul climb into the ring together in a rematch.  This time, however, as "real professionals" - ie without head protection and with several weeks of preparation time.  Sporty certainly not outstanding, but these are likely to be the expected ratings.

Also on the undercard: WBO super middleweight champion Billy Joe Saunders (28-0, 13 KOs).  The undefeated Briton wants to defend his title against unbeaten Argentinian Marcelo Coceres (28-0-1, 15 KOs).
