Boxing: Danny Garcia vs Ivan Redkach

At the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, ex-world champion Danny Garcia (35-2-0, 21 KOs) meets Ukrainian Ivan Redkach (23-4-1, 18 KOs) at night on Sunday.  The official weighing was still on the program today.

Last stop before the next World Cup chance?

It was nine months ago that Danny “Swift” Garcia was last in the ring.  After his impressive knockout victory over the always tough Adrian Granados, it was speculated for a long time how things would go in the 31-year-old's career.  There were no big fights against Manny Pacquiao, Errol Spence & Co. for various reasons.  Now the man from Philadelphia has to deal with Ivan Redkach, who has been boxing since the beginning of his professional career in the USA.  This last beat former world champion Devon Alexander KO, but goes as a blatant outsider in the duel with Garcia.

Both boxers looked well trained on the scales, although Garcia had to go through the procedure without underpants to bring the weight limit of 66.678 kg.  Redkach, on the other hand, had fewer problems and undercut the target.  Regardless, the boxing fans can certainly prepare for an explosive battle, since none of the athletes is known for an overly defensive style.  Then it will be shown whether "Swift" is ready for the big tasks again or whether we may experience the next big surprise in the still young boxing year 2020.
