Vergil Ortiz Jr v. Samuel Vargas

Vergil Ortiz Jr. is the face of Golden Boy Promotion's comeback with his boxing boards in Indio, California.

This afternoon boxing returns from the hand of Golden Boy Promotion after having canceled his return for last July 4.  It will be with Vergil Ortiz Jr. who will face Samuel Vargas in a card that will start at 19:00. The two had no problems giving weight at the Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, California.

There is no doubt that Ortiz, prospect of 2019, is one of the great boxers that the company of Óscar de la Hoya has, who said that he is the future of boxing after the fight he had on social networks with Ryan Garcia.

The 22-year-old American holds an undefeated record of 15 fights won on the fast track and has just defeated Brad Solomon by KO5 on December 13.  For his part, Vargas (31-5-2) comes from fighting against Silvio Ortiz, who he beat by points in a unanimous decision in June last year.

Both will fight for the WBA Gold Welter Title after they have overcome the balance without problems since the South American scored 146.6, while Ortiz scored 147 in the second attempt since in the first he gave 147.2.

On the other hand, the card was intended to co-star the confrontation between the undefeated young Héctor Tanajara against the experienced Mericito Gesta, but it was suspended because the latter had food poisoning.  Because of this, the semi-fund of the night will be played by Shane Mosley Jr., who weighed 159.4, against Jeremy Ramos, who gave 160, to eight rounds at middleweight.
