Boxing: Dillian Whyte vs Alexander Povetkin

Boxing: Dillian Whyte vs Alexander Povetkin

At the first PPV event in the Matchroom Fight Camp in the evening there will be a heavyweight cracker between Dillian Whyte and Alexander Povetkin.

Dillian Whyte [27-1, 18 KOs]  against Alexander Povetkin [35-2-1, 24 KOs]

Both boxers in top shape

The fans of the premier class of boxing have been sitting on dry land in the last few months.  Since Tyson Fury's victory over Deontay Wilder in February, there has not been a real top duel between two tough guys.  But the time of suffering is now over.  On Saturday, Dillian Whyte (27-1-0, 18 KOs) and Alexander Povetkin (35-2-1, 24 KOs) will meet two of the best heavyweights in the world.  The Briton Whyte wants to finally position himself for a world championship fight with a win, while his Russian opponent wants to take his last chance.

At his last fight in December, Whyte had stepped into the ring with the heaviest weight in his career and delivered a disappointing performance.  It was now necessary to prevent such a bad form, because with Povetkin he is facing a highly dangerous opponent in 2020.  So it was not surprising that both Whyte (114.3 kg) and Povectin (101.6 g) presented ideal physical conditions in today's weighing.  In their fight tomorrow evening, the WBC Interim World Championships and the WBC Diamond Belt will be at stake.

 Rematch of the extra class

Another highlight of the event in Brentwood, Essex is the second meeting of Katie Taylor (15-0-0, 6 KOs) and Delfine Persoon (44-2-0, 18 KOs).  Taylor, who wears all world championship belts in the lightweight, was only able to prevail against the Belgian on points in the summer of 2019, and now wants to finally ensure clear conditions.  Both boxers were able to undercut the limit of 61.235 kg.  The winner beckons a fight against the newly crowned Undisputed Welterweight Champion, Jessica McCaskill.
