Boxing: Herring vs Oquendo

The champion of the super featherweight division of the World Boxing Organization (WBO), Jamel Herring, will put his title on the line when he faces Puerto Rican Jonathan Oquendo, at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas this Saturday, September 5.

With a 21-2 record, this will be Herring's second defense of his championship , which he first defended in November when he retained it by taking Masayuki Ito undefeated by unanimous decision.

The third is the charm since this fight has been agreed since July, but due to the pandemic it has been delayed twice, Herring tested positive in the seventh month tests. Without being a knockout artist, with only 10 of his victories ending prematurely, Herring is a very fast and polished fighter.

Herring is a left-handed base so he tends to complicate his opponents, especially in the early rounds. This also opens the doors for him to punish the opponent's liver area in a fairly easy way and tire them too much, something that he takes advantage of with his elite level of cardio.

An extremely dynamic fighter who can fight for any round, Herring is a fighter who can start to grow a lot in recognition with a landslide victory.
