Ligue 1 : SDR vs PSG

Paris Saint-Germain will look to maintain momentum in Ligue 1 as they host the underperforming Reims at Stade Auguste-Delaune on Sunday night. Thomas Tuchel's teachers and students continued their consecutive defeats to start the season with consecutive victories and welcomed a Reims team that they have not won yet.

On the home side, midfielder Wout Faes was sent off during the match against Angers and will therefore be sidelined during the champions' visit, while midfielder Moussa Doumbia was another absent due to a shoulder injury. Teen striker El Bilal Toure has had 1 goal in four appearances this season and is expected to lead the attack for Reims, who has scored at least 1 goal in each match against PSG in the last Ligue 1. They have won 2 of their most recent meetings with PSG and lost only 2 of their 11 home matches in Ligue 1 to the Paris team. However, they entered this match in poor form, losing the last 3 games since drawing Monaco 2-2 at the opening weekend - even that match they wasted a 2-goal lead. However, bigger than that, all of last season's attempts to take sixth place have been clouded with defeat to Hungary's Fehervar in the Europa League qualifiers on Thursday. After the worst possible start to their campaign, David Guion's team needed to get inspiration from somewhere.

Without Julian Draxler's last choking goal two weeks ago to take a 1-0 win over Metz, you have to wonder what happens next for head coach Tuchel. Going to the Champions League final last season is of course a great achievement, but 2 defeats and 1 draw at the beginning of the 2020-21 season will ring alarm bells. Currently, PSG has scored 2 wins after a 3-0 win over Nice last weekend and everything seems to be fine again in the French capital. Tuchel was not helped by the absence of many key players due to coronaviruses, injuries and suspensions, in which Angel Di Maria was last banned for four games. However, Kylian Mbappe scored again in the Nice win, and the German coach has a host of substitutes to choose from - among them Mauro Icardi. PSG are still the favorites to win their eighth title in nine years, even if they are 4 points behind leading Saint-Etienne. Tuchel's job at the moment was to win many games, but this trip to Reims could be a daunting one - even if their opponents were in the relegation zone.
