Serie A: Inter vs Fiorentina

Inter Milan will be looking for a winning start to the 2020-21 Serie A campaign as they host Fiorentina to the San Siro on Saturday night. Antonio Conte's side were given an extra week to recover due to having to attend the Europa League final, but Fiorentina opened last weekend with a 1-0 win over Torino.

Inter's 2019-20 campaign may have ended in disappointment as they lost to Sevilla in the Europa League final, but there is no question that the Italian side have made great strides last season. Indeed, Conte's side are already second in Serie A, just 1 point behind champions Juventus, and club supporters will expect another title challenge this season. It seems hard to believe that Inter have not won the Serie A title since 2010, while they finished 9th in 2012-13 and 8th in 2014-15 in a very difficult period. However, finishing fourth in a row followed with second place last season, and the half-blue Milano has assembled a quality and certainly one-man-capable roster once again challenged. Finalize the silver title this season.

Fiorentina, meanwhile, kicked off their 2020-21 Serie A campaign with a 1-0 win over Torino last weekend thanks to Gaetano Castrovilli's 78th-minute strike. Purple One improved their 16th place in the 2018-19 season to take 10th place last season but is still far from the 4th place they got in 2012-2015. Even so, a quick look at Fiorentina's squad shows that they have the qualities to push the second half of the season, and Giuseppe Iachini's side have won their last three league games. La Viola was also unbeaten in the last 3 Serie A matches with Inter, including a goalless draw in the respective match between the two teams in the final stages of last season. Coach Iachini could choose the same squad to play against Torino, Federico Chiesa was supposed to leave the club this summer, but it looks like the Italian will stay, and he could once again make an appearance on the right flank at the San Siro. Borja Valero re-joined Fiorentina from Inter in the summer and hopes to join, but Franck Ribery and Christian Kouame can continue in attack.
