EPL: Saints vs NUFC

If counted in English time, the early match of round 8 between Southampton and Newcastle will take place on Friday night (the remaining matches will be played on Saturday or Sunday).  Thus, if they beat Newcastle by any score, Southampton temporarily rose to the top of the Premier League chart because they are only 3 points behind Liverpool at the top of the table and equal to the difference (with +2).

It will be the first time in history that Southampton will end their day as the top team in the Premier League.  In addition, the victory will also help Southampton own 3 consecutive wins in the Premier League for the first time since 2016.

To set the heights to say names, Southampton needs to know how to overcome their obsession with Newcastle, a team they have not won once in the past 4 years.  Exactly after round 33 of the Premier League 2015/16 (won 3-1) so far, Southampton has drawn 2 and lost 4 after 6 matches against Newcastle in official tournaments.

This reunion, although Southampton are flourishing, they lack an important card: top striker Danny Ings is injured to rest for 6 weeks.  So the responsibility to score can be entrusted to Theo Walcott, Arsenal's one-time prodigy, but since the beginning of the 2020/21 season, the English striker has not scored a single goal in all competitions.

However, Theo Walcott was very charming with Newcastle when he imprinted his shoes on 12 goals (7 goals, 5 assists) after 14 encounters "Chòe" on the pitch.  With 7 goals, Newcastle is his favorite opponent in the Premier League.

In addition, midfielder James Ward-Prowse is also in high form when he contributed directly to 4 goals in the last 2 Premier League matches - a feat that Ward-Prowse had previously had to take up to 28 games.  .

Do not forget that Southampton scored 3 goals against Chelsea (draw 3-3), forcing "super phenomenon" Everton to receive the first loss of the season and then lost the first place and the previous round destroyed the "rebel"  Aston Villa 4-3 right at the opponent's mecca.  That was enough to scare Newcastle.
