Serie A: ATA vs Inter

Pressure is heavy on coach Antonio Conte after 3 consecutive wins without winning. To dispel the oppressive atmosphere, captain Inter needed a victory on the pitch of his depressed opponent Atalanta.

Conte's second season at Inter was going in a bad way. The Milan team dropped to 6th after 6 rounds with only 11 points. In the Champions League, the latest defeat against Real Madrid pushed Inter down to the bottom of Group B. They only looked 2 points after 3 matches.

Inter had to receive up to 15 goals after 9 games this season (in all competitions). For comparison, they only have 7 conceded times after the first 9 matches last season. Looking at the history of Inter, 15 goals from the start of the season is the fourth worst performance after the 2011/12 season (18 goals), 1930/1931 (20 goals) and 1932/1933 (16 goals). Repeat to see the gravity of the problem. Conte is clearly challenging Chairman Steven Zhang's patience.

Inter, though, does not easily dismiss the coach with a contract until 2022. Because they will have to compensate up to 47 million euros for Conte if they unilaterally cut the contract. But also does not mean Steven Zhang sat watching Inter go downhill in the hands of the Italian coach. Conte understood that he had to get Inter back as soon as possible. A trip to Atalanta will be an opportunity for the 51-year-old coach to relieve the pressure.

Atalanta currently has 12 points after 6 rounds, 1 point more than Inter. But the performance of the Lombardy team is just as bad. A 0-5 defeat at home to Liverpool showed the pedestal face of coach Gian Piero Gasperini's students. In the last 6 matches in all competitions, Atalanta did not win to 4. The performance went down and the force was a serious loss. Injury of the three pillars of De Roon, Mattia Caldara, and Robin Gosens will significantly affect Atalanta's gameplay.

Atalanta - Inter is the traditional rich derby of the Lombardy region. They have met a total of 131 times since the first time in 1937, the dominance was in favor of Inter with 72 wins, 33 draws and 26 losses. In recent years, Atalanta still completely outperformed Inter when they only won 1/7 of the last encounter in Serie A (3 lost, drew 3). Last meeting in August, Conte's team won 2-0 at Gewiss. If they win again tonight, Inter will have the first time since 2001 to win 2 consecutive wins at Atalanta Stadium in Serie A.

With Inter, the defeat to Real Madrid (2-3) was not a total disappointment. The convincing form of Nicolo Barella and Lautaro Martinez a little bit helped Inter turn things around on the Bernabeu. Although the defense system is not really sure, Conte can be satisfied with the effectiveness of the attack. With 15 goals after 6 rounds, Inter kept the performance of 2.5 goals / game. The timely return of Alexis Sanchez also significantly increased the attack power.

It is worth mentioning, Atalanta this time is no longer a resilient team that reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League last season. A rival "fit" for Conte and his students to win the thirst.
