UCL: CFC vs Rennes

Like the first phase leading Chelsea, Frank Lampard, after a period of difficult problems, has smoothly "steered" the Blues back to the rails. Since a bitter draw with Southampton and experts constantly questioned the defense, Lampard has quickly adjusted and responded to all criticism with 4 consecutive clean sheets.

Welcoming Rennes today, the Blues are aiming for a complete victory: both white and keeping strength for a number of pillars for the accelerating journey in the Premier League this weekend. Chelsea have a basis to be confident in the absence of the strongest squad still getting 3 points against Rennes.

Although the French representative is ranked third in Lique 1, the strength in the Champions League playground is still at the stage of rubbing and learning. This is the first time in Rennes history to attend the Champions League and they have greeted this prestigious playground with two rather faint matches against Krasnodar (1-1 draw) and Sevilla (0-1 loss).

If you expand your search to the Europa League, Rennes once left a small mark with a 3-1 win over Arsenal at home in the eighth round of the 2018/19 season (the season in which Chelsea was crowned. champion). However, the French team in the trip to Emirates, the return leg, lost 0-3 and was eliminated.

Having beaten Arsenal 3-1, it is clear that Rennes cannot be underestimated. However, they will truly be an unknown if they have the most powerful force. Unfortunately, this will be a match where Rennes lacks young talent Eduardo Camavinga and an extremely important link in the defense: midfielder Daniele Rugani (the player Rennes is borrowing from Juventus).

Talking about the coach, both Chelsea side Frank Lampard and Rennes' Julien Stephan are young and do not have much experience in fighting in the Champions League playground as a coach. However, at least Lampard had plowed on this front as a player, and for Rennes' 40-year-old teacher Stephan, this was the first time stepping into the sea. Julien Stephan is actually not a strange name. He is the son of Guy Stephan, the veteran assistant to the French coach, Didier Deschamps.

Based on the opponent's poor health, Lampard is confident that he will make some force rotation. Striker Timo Werner is likely to rest. The middle position will belong to Tammy Abraham. Kai Havertz will also be put on the bench. Callum Hudson-Odoi will be used. Ben Chilwell was also likely to rest and was replaced by Emerson. Using the team that is not the strongest will also be considered a test of Chelsea to see if they are really "on the ball" or not.
