FA Cup: Southampton vs Shrewsbury

Southampton vs Shrewsbury

Due to many Shrewsbury players infected with Covid-19, their match against Southampton in the third round of the FA Cup, was supposed to be played 10 days ago, moved to the middle of this week.

However, even Shrewsbury was not interested in the postponement of the game because they simply knew that even having the strongest force in hand, it would be difficult to surprise because the difference between the two teams was so great  .

It should be remembered that Shrewsbury is only one representative of League One (the equivalent of 3rd place) while Southampton is playing in the top division of the Premier League.  But last time, Shrewsbury performed quite positively.  Specifically, they won the last 4/5 matches and Shrewsbury's away field was also unbeaten in the last 4 matches (won 3).

As for Southampton, coach Ralph Hasenhuttl's army played not too impressive.  It is true that in the past time, they have excellently defeated defending champions Liverpool, but that is also their only victory in the last 6 matches.

At the hole, Southampton only triumphed in the last 2/5 matches.  In addition, because only having to meet opponents who are too weak and this weekend must attend the more important Premier League playground, most likely, The Saints will give a series of pillars to rest and give opportunities to the players.  The reserves are less likely to play.

With such a force, gaining the right to continue is satisfactory and Southampton may not be demanding more.

More than 10 years ago the two teams met also in the FA Cup and then Southampton won 2-0 at home
