WBC champ Julio Cesar Martinez wants to become the undisputed flyweight champion

Martinez vs Cordova

Julio Cesar Martinez chases his flyweight belt as he defends his WBC title against Joel Cordova in Matchroom's first event and DAZN's new series of fight nights in Mexico along with Canelo Promotions and Clase y Talento on Saturday night in Guadalajara, Mexico.  The fight will be shown live worldwide on DAZN.

JC Martinez (17-113 knockout wins) is putting his green and gold WBC belt on the line for the third time and has spoken of his desire to make up for lost time after canceling two defenses against McWilliams Arroyo due to injury.

'El Rey' is in his first fight against compatriot Cordova (12-4-2, 3 KO wins) since he shot Moises Calleros Garcia out of the way in two rounds in Mexico City in October and Martinez is eager  to defend his belt in style before moving on to further fights to compete with his fellow flyweight champions.

"My goal is to unite all the belts in my weight class and be the best pound for pound fighter in the flyweight division," says Martinez.  “Well, as I have always said: with whom and wherever.  IBF Champion Sunny Edwards has just crowned himself.  I've already defeated his brother.  I took his belt.  I would be proud and very happy if he gave me the opportunity to compete in a title unification fight with him. "

“I would be just as proud to be able to combine our titles with WBA Champion Artem Dalakian.  He too is undefeated.  A fighter who is always ready to fight, capable of big knockouts.  Well, as I've always said, I want to face the best.  That is why we are here."

“WBO champion Junto Nakatani is a fighter with a lot of style, a lot of technology and he is definitely one of the elite in our weight class.  Here, too, as I have always said, I only want to face the best and write history. "
