Boxing: Jermell Charlo vs Brian Castano

Jermell Charlo vs Brian Castano

Next night in San Antonio (Texas, USA) all four world super welterweight titles are on the agenda: WBC / WBA / IBF world champion Jermell Charlo will meet WBO champion Brian Carlos Castano!  The “Official Weighing” took place yesterday.

"Charlo vs. Castano": Who makes history in the super welterweight division?

Never in the history of the super welterweight has there been a single ruler over all four major World Cup associations.  But this should change in the night ahead!  Jermell Charlo (34-1-0, 18 Ko’s) already has three World Cup trophies (WBC, IBF, WBO).  The 31-year-old Texan wants to celebrate his greatest success so far in front of a home crowd.

Against Brian Carlos Castano, who is of the same age (17-0-1, 12 Ko’s), Charlo is a favorite with experts and bookmakers, but the so far unbeaten Argentinian should not be underestimated!  Castano has only been WBO world champion for five months.  The unification fight against Charlo should probably bring him the biggest "paycheck" so far.

During yesterday's “Weigh-In”, the clash between Charlo and Castano almost got out of hand!  After a battle of words between the two teams, security officers had to separate some supervisors and relatives before a solid mix could have developed.

The two main fighters presented themselves in top form on the scales and stayed within the required weight limit: While Jermell Charlo delivered 69.40 kilograms, Brian Castano's 69.51 kg. Thus, both protagonists were almost on par.  Next night our fists will speak and answer the question of who is the undisputed number 1 in the super welterweight division!
