The undefeated contender and former Irish Olympian, Michael Conlan, will face his compatriot and former world champion, TJ Doheny, in a duel for the interim world featherweight championship endorsed by the World Boxing Association (WBA), which will be the star of a card that It will take place this Friday at the "Falls Park" in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Boxing: Conlan vs. Doheny

This Thursday, the official weigh-in of this card was held, but it was striking that the fight was signed at the 124-pound limit, despite the featherweight being 126.

Belfast's Conlan totally stripped on the scale, tipping the scales at 124.2 pounds, while Doheny stopped the pendulum at 123.8.

This fight has generated a lot of interest, because they are two Irishmen of very high level of competition, and according to how it is handled, the last fight between fighters from Ireland, of high level, took place in 1962, with Johnny Caldwell vs Freddie Gilroy.

Michael Conlan (15-0, 8 knockouts) dropped from 126 pounds to 122 pounds in his last fight, to beat, by majority decision in twelve rounds, the brave Romanian Ionut Baluta.

TJ Doheny (22-2, 16 knockouts) also beat Baluta, by decision, in March 2020. This Romanian fighter was Conlan's toughest test yet.
