Boxing: Joshua Buatsi vs Ricards Bolotniks

At the second season finale of the Matchroom Fight Camp, one highlight followed the other.  The final Fight Camp 3 will certainly meet all expectations again.

Boxing: Joshua Buatsi vs Ricards Bolotniks

All boxers made weight for the event, which was broadcast live on DAZN from Matchroom Boxing HQ Garden in Brentwood, Essex, England on Saturday.  In the main fight of the event on Saturday evening, the Olympic third from 2016 and the current contender for an imminent world championship fight, Joshua Buatsi (14-0-0, 12KO victories) will meet the 31-year-old Latvian Ricards Bolotniks (18-5-  1, 8KO victories), in a planned 12-round title fight in the light heavyweight division.

Joshua Buatsi weighed 78.93 pounds while his opponent Ricard's Bolotniks weighed 79.16 pounds.

Buatsi enjoys a quick ring turnaround and comes from a knockout win in the 4th round in which he clearly defeated the undefeated Daniel Blenda Dos Santos in May of this year in Manchester, England.  The 28-year-old from Croydon, London, who was born in Accra, Ghana, entered the professional business in 2017 with high expectations and emerged as a bronze medalist from the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.  A combination of injuries, the pandemic, and the difficulty of finding ready top light heavyweights to step into the ring with him have stalled his career progress slightly, but a win on Saturday would force the sanctions authority to soon give him a title shot  grant.

Bolotniks has seen quite a career turnaround after fighting his way up.  The 31-year-old from Riga, Latvia, started with a winning streak of seven fights, and then rose to the light heavyweight division.  At MTK's light heavyweight tournament for the Golden Contract, he won the tournament and the Golden Contract Cup with victories over Steven Ward, Hosea Burton and the German Serge Michel.
