Erdogan was warmly welcomed in Novi Pazar

Turkey's President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, was received today warmly during his visit to the region with a majority Muslim population in the southwestern part of Serbia.

Hundreds of flagships of Turkey and Serbia are lined up on the streets of Novi Pazar, the largest in the Sandzak region, which Erdogan visited with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.

President Erdogan is on a two-day visit to Serbia and analysts estimate that Turkey intends to increase its influence on the Balkans.

Yesterday in Belgrade, Recep Tayyip Erdogan talked with Vucic and expressed his commitment to increase investment and trade with Serbia.

Many countries in the region have historical and religious ties with Turkey, from power that has lasted for several centuries to the Ottoman Empire.
