The former England star: 50% of professional players play bettor

Former England national football player Joey Barton has claimed that 50% of professional players place bets on football matches.

He has said that the bastion has been introduced to sports in a cultural way, BBC writes, conveyed Express.

Former Burnley midfielder, now 35, was suspended by the English Football Federation in April 2017 for breach of betting rules.

It was found that Barton had put 1,260 bets on football matches over the past 10 years.

"I think if they find out who put up bets and battles them, then they would suspend half the league. I think 50% of the players would be excluded, "Barton told BBC
