Ways, 'let us unite against pollution, insime for a better planet'

India declares war on plastic. In one of the most populous countries in the world, with 1.3 billion inhabitants, disposable plastic items such as envelopes and crockery will be banned by 2022. The commitment was made by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. during the celebrations for the World Environment Day.
"It is the duty of each of us to ensure that the search for material prosperity does not compromise our environment," said Modi according to the UN report. "The choices we make today will define our collective future, and these choices may not be easy, but through awareness, technology and true global partnership, I'm sure we can make the right decisions."

"Let's all come together to beat the pollution from plastic - Modi urged - and make this planet a better place to live".

For Erik Solheim, head of UN Environment, "India has made a phenomenal commitment and has shown a clear, decisive and global environmental leadership, which will inspire the world and ignite the real change".
