The alarm extension option generally has a bad reputation.

People who use this option are often referred to as lazy and unruly, while many people believe that sleeping 10 minutes after alarm just harms your circadian rhythm.

If you are among these people then science has good news for you: you can be much more intelligent, more creative, even happier than those who wake up as soon as the alarm comes down.

This study links the triggering of the alarm with creativity, intelligence, and an independent spirit.

The authors of this study, Satoshi Kanazawa and Kaja Perina, argue that we are adopted to live (and sleep) like our ancestors - implying early sleep and early awakening - and the ability to adapt to modern life is a sign of an extraordinary intelligence.
