Khabib Nurmagomedov confronted Dustin Poirier at UFC 242

According to the latest UFC statement, lightweight UFC champion Khabib Nurmagomedov will have a title defense against Dustin Poirier at UFC 242 in Abu Dhabi.

This is Khabib's first match after the ban on competition from the scuffle at UFC 229 last year. This Russian puncher opponent will be Dustin Poirier, who just won the lightweight temporary championship belt after defeating the featherweight champion Max Holloway in April. This match aims to unify the lightweight weight class of UFC.

Khabib and Dustin will be the main pair at UFC 242 in Abu Dhabi - the capital and the second most populous city of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Playing in UAE, Khabib will have many advantages. Because he is a Muslim and considered a symbol of Muslim power which the UAE is a Muslim country that admires Khabib very much. This will also make it easier to communicate and promote the event this time.

UFC previously held two events in Abu Dhabi, including UFC Fight Night 39 in 2014 and UFC 112 in 2010. The location for UFC 242 has not been disclosed.

Technically, Khabib is still a better-rated fist with a Sambo style and strong wrestling. Dustin was quite outstanding at counter-attacks and the ability to load blows. In addition, he is a master of the black belt of BJJ, so he cannot despise the battle ability of this American puncher.
