Boxing: Jamal James vs Butaev

World Boxing Association (WBA) welterweight world champion, American Jamal “Shango” James, will defend his title against undefeated Russian opponent, Radzhab Butaev, in the show A card draw will take place this Saturday, at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, Las Vegas, Nevada.

The match, fueled by the Premier Boxing Champions series, will be televised on Showtime.

Jamal James (27-1, 12 KOs) returns to action after a previous game saw him win the WBA Interim World Cup, defeating Puerto Rican Thomas Dulorme, in August 2020, before promoted to “regular championship”.

And on the scale date, “Shango” James hit 145.25 pounds this Friday, well below the weight division limit of 147 pounds. For his part, Butaev stopped the pendulum at 146.25 pounds.

Butaev (13-0, 10 KOs) will face James in a long-awaited matchup requested by the WBA. Butaev turned pro after about 400 amateur fights in 2016 and scored KOs in six of his first seven games.

Originally from Russia and now fighting from Brooklyn, New York, Butaev returned to the ring in December 2020, stopping Terry Chatwood undefeated in the third round.
