EPL: Leeds United vs Leicester

Both Leeds and Leicester have been in poor form at the beginning of the Premier League this season. While the home team is struggling in the relegation group, the “Foxes” are almost eliminated from the race to win tickets to the European Cup. In this difficult situation, let’s wait and see which name will show the bravery of a powerful team.

For the second consecutive season in the English Premier League, Leeds immediately showed its decline. It should be known that the Elland Road home team played very well last season to get a position in the top half of the table. After a summer without many changes in personnel, Leeds’ play seems to have been caught. Marcelo Bielsa’s side just won 2-1 against Norwich City last weekend. This result also ended Leeds’ streak of 3 games without a win (draw, lose 2). After 10 matches played in the Premier League this season, Leeds won 2, drew 4 and lost 4.

They are currently in 17th place on the table with a meager point, so Leeds only earn an average of 1 point per game. They are only 2 points above the relegation group and a defeat against Leicester will push them into disaster. In the last 10 matches, they only had 2 clean sheets and received 17 goals after 10 matches. They’ve averaged one goal per game this season (10 goals) and only twice have they scored more than one goal. This is a very bad number considering that Leeds possessed explosive and very effective attacking play last season. In the last 4 home matches, Leeds only won 1 match against rookie Watford.

Leicester aim for this match from a 1-1 draw with Spartak Moscow at the Europa League playground. Playing at home and possessing completely superior strength to the opponent, however, “Foxes” had to work very hard to get 1 point. They were the team to concede first, then midfielder Daniel Amartey was the one to get the only equalizer. The match where Jamie Vardy missed the unfortunate penalty kick situation. Leicester are currently losing ground in the race to win tickets to the round of 16. They are in 3rd place in Group C, 1 and 2 points behind Napoli and Legia, respectively.

In the last match in the Premier League, Leicester played very hard but still lost to Arsenal with a score of 0-2. Before this match, Leicester did not win in 90 minutes in the last 3 matches and did not keep a clean sheet in 9 matches. Brendan Rodgers’ side have scored in the last 10 away games in the Premier League and in 6 of those 10 games, they have scored 2 or more goals. With a record of 4 wins, 2 draws and 4 losses, Leicester is currently in 12th place on the table with 14 points. In the last 5 matches with Leeds, Leicester drew 1, lost 1 and won 3.
