EPL: Norwich vs Southampton

Norwich have just had their first victory in the Premier League this season after defeating Brentford in the previous round. The next match “canary” will face a big challenge named Southampton. Against an opponent in high form, home advantage is not enough for Norwich to aim for the next victory.

The goals of Mathias Normann and Teemu Pukki helped Norwich beat Brentford 2-1 in the last match. The match in which the “canary” played worse than the opponent, but was still lucky to have a victory. It is worth mentioning that these are only the first 3 points of Norwich in the Premier League this season. After a total of 11 rounds, they only won 1, drew 2 and lost to 5. Currently with 5 points, Norwich are at the bottom of the table and 5 points behind the safety group.

If not quickly breakthrough, the prospect of relegation is very close to the home team Carrow Road. It should be known that two seasons ago Norwich also had to play in the First Division after a series of poor performances. Norwich are still unable to win at home this season with 4 losses and 1 draw after 5 visits. It turns out that Norwich has a series of 10 home matches without a win in the Premier League and has lost 9 of them. Even Norwich conceded 2 or more goals in the last 6/7 matches at home.

Southampton march to Carrow Road after a 1-0 victory over Aston Villa at home. The only goal of striker Adam Armstrong also marked a sublimation period for Southampton. Accordingly, in the last 4 rounds in the English Premier League, Southampton are unbeaten when drawing 1 and winning 3. After a total of 11 matches played, Southampton won 3, drew 5 and lost 3. Currently, the away team stands at the top position. 13th on the chart with 14 points.

This is not a very good achievement and coach Ralph Hasenhüttl’s teachers and students need to make a lot of efforts in the next stage. They have only won 1 time in 5 away matches this season. That victory came against Watford in the last away game. Southampton have won the last 4/5 matches against Norwich. The Saints have kept a clean sheet in 2/5 of their away matches and have not conceded in all 3 recent victories. With a disciplined play, it is not difficult for Southampton to leave with only 3 points if it is properly played.
