EPL: Newcastle vs Burnley

Newcastle is the only team that has not had the joy of winning after the Premier League this season has gone through 14 rounds. However, the opportunity for “Chicken” to find the light came when they were allowed to stay at home to welcome Burnley in the upcoming match. The fact that the opponent is in very bad form and is also in the group holding the red light, there is no reason for Newcastle to refuse the first 3 points.

Play short of people right in the 9th minute due to the direct red card of defender Ciaran Clark. However, Newcastle made an effort to retain 1 point in the welcome of rookie Norwich. Even if luckier, Newcastle could have won all 3 points if not to equalize in the last minutes of the match. It can be said that “Chicken” is going through a season of piling up difficulties. Accordingly, Newcastle have not won the last 14 matches in the Premier League this season. In the series of matches mentioned above, Newcastle drew 7 and lost 7, this result of course left them at the bottom of the table.

Being 6 points behind the safety group, this is not an easy number to level in the current context. Newcastle are a very bad defensive team this season and have conceded 30 goals, the worst performance in the league. The fact that the attack only opened a meager 16 goals could not make up for the poor performance in the downline. Newcastle’s home form improved slightly when avoiding defeat in the last 2 matches with 2 draws. They need a win against Burnley, otherwise Newcastle will be a bright candidate to win the right to attend the Championship next season.

The away team Burnley just had a tough match at Wolves and the 0-0 result was really lucky for them. It should be remembered that Burnley suffered up to 16 finishing situations from the opponent and goalkeeper Nick Pope had 5 saves, so 1 point partly made Burnley satisfied. It turns out Burnley has divided points in the last 3 rounds and they have a series of 5 unbeaten matches (draw 4, win 1). Of course, it cannot be said that this team is having a good season, when after 13 rounds they only won 1, drew 7 and lost 5. Currently with 10 points, Burnley is still in the group holding the red light.

They are 3 points behind the safe area and have played less than 1 game, so the opportunity for Burnley to escape the relegation group is more open than Newcastle. Burnley is yet to win an away game this season with 4 draws and 3 losses. In terms of head-to-head record, Burnley has not won in the last 6 visits to St.James Park with 4 draws and 2 defeats. This season Burnley have only scored 6 away goals at an average rate of less than 1 goal per game. Their attack also only opened fire a total of 14 times since the beginning of the season and the upcoming trip promises a lot of thorns.
