The World Boxing Council (WBC) featherweight world champion, Gary Russell Jr., will defend his title against his mandatory challenger, Mark Magsayo, in the main event next Saturday, January 22, at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
The fight is promoted by the Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) series and will be televised on Showtime.
Both stars, Gary Russell Jr. and Mark Magsayo, participated this Thursday in a last promotional press conference. The press conference was also attended by super lightweight contenders Subriel Matias and Petros Ananyan, who meet for a rematch in the 12-round co-main event, as well as hard-hitting featherweight contender Tugstsogt “King Tug” Nyambayar and the once defeated contender Sakaria Lukas.
Gary Russell Jr. (31-1, 18 KOs), a native of Capitol Heights, Maryland, has held his WBC featherweight title since 2015, when he stopped multi-division champion Jhonny Gonzalez to emphatically capture the belt.
