Boxing: Amir Khan vs Kell Brook

Experienced former British world champions Amir Khan and Kell Brook will square off in a much-anticipated duel in the UK, headlining this Saturday, February 19, at the AO Arena in Manchester, England.

The fight, which is promoted by Boxxer, will be televised on Sky Sports Box Office in the UK and on ESPN in the US and Latin America.

During the official weigh-in ceremony, where the stars had to meet the stipulated weight of 149 pounds, Amir Khan registered 147.3 pounds and Kell Brook 148.3 pounds.

Amir Khan (34-5, 21KOs), Britain’s 2004 Olympic silver medalist, was the unified IBF and WBA super lightweight champion. Before his back-to-back losses to Lamont Peterson and Danny Garcia, he was considered the man to beat at 140 pounds.

Kell Brook (39-3, 27KOs) was the IBF welterweight world champion for three years, when Khan was making a career in the same division.

Although this British civil war was always talked about, when the two fighters were at their best, the fight never materialized, since both tried their luck in other opportunities.

Khan faced then-WBC middleweight champion Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez at the 155-pound catchweight, falling by a gruesome knockout as then-undefeated Brook challenged then-WBA, IBF and WBC unified champion Gennadiy Golovkin, with whom he lost by technical knockout.
