EPL: Brentford vs Newcastle

Both are competitors in the relegation battle, so the upcoming match between Brentford and Newcastle in the 27th round of the Premier League will be extremely tense. There, Brentford has a home ground, but Newcastle is the team that is more appreciated in terms of performance.

Midfielder Christian Norgaard’s only goal was not enough for Brentford to avoid a 1-2 defeat as a guest of Arsenal in the previous round. This loss also extended Brentford’s winless streak to eight in all competitions. In which, the home team at Brentford Community drew 6 and lost 1 in the Premier League, in addition to a 1-4 defeat when facing Everton in the FA Cup. The last round that Brentford got 3 points was when he faced Aston Villa on January 2.

Brentford won 6, drew 6 and lost 14 of 26 Premier League games this season to collect 24 points. This result puts them in 14th place in the rankings, just 4 points above the relegation area. Even Brentford has played 3 more matches than the 18th ranked team Burnley. Thomas Frank’s side have lost seven Premier League games at home this season. Moreover, Brentford only won 1 and lost 4 through 6 encounters with Newcastle in the past.

Since the 0-4 loss at home to Man City on December 19, Newcastle have performed excellently to win 3 and draw 3 thereby exiting the relegation zone. Newcastle had three consecutive wins against Leeds, Everton and Aston Villa from January 22 to February 13 before a 1-1 draw with West Ham last weekend. Coach Eddie Howe’s team is currently 17th in the rankings, 2 points above Burnley and only 5 points behind the 12th ranked team Leicester.

That is a very positive sign and Newcastle can completely think about the prospect of staying in the Premier League when this season ends. With 2 clean sheets in the last 5 matches, the Newcastle defense has improved significantly. However, Newcastle have to face the injury of Kiran Trippier, the defender has made a great contribution to the rising performance of “Chick Cho√®”. Besides, Newcastle have the second worst away form in the league, with only 7/11 points when away from home from the beginning of the season.
