WCQ: Sweden vs Czech

It is not difficult to realize, this is a match worth waiting for when both teams have had quite good performance in the group stage. Unfortunately, luck is not on their side. However, despite being considered one of the best matches in the 2022 World Cup Play-off round in Europe, it is not easy for the Swedes to create a victory right at their home ground.

Sweden finished Group B of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers in Europe in second place with 15 points and exactly four points behind first place after eight group matches. In a group that included lower-rated opponents such as Greece, Georgia and Kosovo, the Nordic team had a pretty good record when they won 5 and lost 3. They lost very unfortunately before Greece in the group stage. Moreover, once standing in the same group with the Spanish team, such an outcome is relatively reasonable.

Spain is too strong at the moment and coach Janne Andersson’s team also lost 0-1 to the bull country team in the last match. But again and again, they did not give themselves a certain advantage when they were able to draw this direct opponent with a score of 0-0. Logically, the Nordic team is still not easy to have a clear chance to go to the next round against a Czech Republic that is in very high form.

On the other side of the line, the Czech Republic is also not a medium when it completes the group stage of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers in Europe with 14 points. Won 4, drew 2 and lost 2. Losing to Belgium and drawing unfortunately Wales was the reason why they could not go to the top of the table to continue but had to play in the Play-off.

Gathering a squad from experienced but little-known players, the Czech Republic still surprises many teams that neglect tight defense. Their flamboyant play for many years is still there, although it has been gradually eroded by physical problems. The army of coach Jaroslav Silhavy can still confidently create a surprise on the away field against Sweden.
