EPL: Wolves vs Norwich

Wolves welcome Norwich at Molineux in the framework of the penultimate match of the Premier League season 2021-2022. The “Canary” was soon relegated, while the “Wolves” needed points to race for a ticket to the European Cup. There are too many advantages for Wolves to aim for an easy victory.

Wolves have the opportunity to compete for a place in the top 6 with a ticket to the Europa League in early April, but disappointing form has made them difficult for themselves. Specifically, Wolves lost 4 of the last 5 matches in the Premier League, gaining only 1 point in the process (draw 1, lose 4). Coach Bruno Lage’s team just suffered a 1-5 loss at home to Man City, the result made them drop to 8th place in the rankings. Wolves are currently 5 points behind the 7th ranked team, West Ham, so they still have a chance to compete for a ticket to the Europa Conference League.

Of course, to do that, Wolves need to win both of the last two matches and hope West Ham stumbles. Coach Bruno Lage’s side have only won 23 points from 18 matches at Molineux this season and their away form this season is more impressive. Wolves are unbeaten in all three recent matches against Norwich in the English Premier League. Finishing in a top eight spot was not a disaster for Wolves as they finished 13th last season. However, “there is still water to slap” and Wolves have no reason not to win 3 points against Norwich.

Norwich were officially relegated to the Championship at the end of last month after a 0-2 defeat to Aston Villa. The “canaries” have lost two more matches, that is a 0-4 defeat at home to West Ham and most recently Leicester on Wednesday night. Coach Dean Smith’s team only won 5, drew 6 and received 25 defeats through 36 matches. With only 21 points brought back, the fact that Norwich is standing at the bottom of the rankings is completely worth it.

In theory, Norwich can still rise to 19th place, as Watford are only 2 points ahead of them. But this result is no longer so important and the spirit of the Norwich players has also dropped very low. Norwich have the worst away form in the Premier League this season, picking up just nine points from their 18 games. Even the public goods scored only 10 goals after a total of 18 trips as guests. Norwich have lost all of the last 5 matches and they have no chance to make a surprise at Molineux Stadium.
